Tectonic imprints of landscape evolution in the Bhilangana and Mandakini basin, Garhwal Himalaya, India: A geospatial approach

چکیده
Torrential rains, landslides, and seismic activity are the common factors that causing unprecedented damage to life, property infrastructure in Mandakini Bhilangana basins of Garhwal Himalaya. Owing such conditions, we demonstrate feedback this landscape Himalaya response episodic tectonic uplift monsoon precipitation. We calculated conventional geomorphic parameters access deformation across major thrusts faults. further analyzed normalized steepness index (K sn ), Chi (χ), knickpoints along longitudinal course rivers. Additionally, study attributed active nature Chail/Ramgarh thrust Balganga valley as envisaged by five levels unpaired fluvial terraces, entrenched stream course, river ponding, stabilized landslide deposits, etc. Moreover, flooding during heavy rainfall events induced toe cutting makes an effect on settlement over deposits. Therefore, suggested highly dissected tilted with deep V shaped valleys ongoing seismicity also fabricates region more vulnerable for hazards which threaten human lives.

Tectonic control on 10Be-derived erosion rates in the Garhwal Himalaya, India
[1] Erosion in the Himalaya is responsible for one of the greatest mass redistributions on Earth and has fueled models of feedback loops between climate and tectonics. Although the general trends of erosion across the Himalaya are reasonably well known, the relative importance of factors controlling erosion is less well constrained. Here we present 25 Be-derived catchment-averaged erosion rates...
متن کاملRates and magnitudes of paraglacial fan formation in the Garhwal Himalaya: implications for landscape evolution
The development of paraglacial fans, studied in the upper Bhagirathi valley, Garhwal Himalaya, northern India, relates to the retreat of the Gangotri Glacier over the last 200 years. These fans demonstrate the speed by which mass movement and fluvial processes may lead to the modification and readjustment of the Himalayan landscapes during deglaciation. The paraglacial fans in this region grew ...

BACKGROUND The northern part of India harbours a great diversity of medicinal plants due to its distinct geography and ecological marginal conditions. The traditional medical systems of northern India are part of a time tested culture and honored still by people today. These traditional systems have been curing complex disease for more than 3,000 years. With rapidly growing demand for these med...
